Youth Take Over Project

Early on in 2022, I had the pleasure of undertaking a project with Youth Take Over.

The objective of the project was to work in a team to design and individually produce some wine labels for a local winery (Red Edge Wine) and to hold an exhibition to showcase the designs.

Under the guidance of the team at The KH Studio, particularly owner, Kira Tucker; we toured the Red Edge Winery, to gather information from owner, Peter Dredge, as well as a tour of Munari Wines by India Munari, about what goes into designing a wine label; a session to come up with a brand strategy and creating mood boards, and presenting to the Red Phascogales team (interns) and getting feedback on the labels from graphic designer, Brent Nolan, from Blunt Agency.

With Thomas Wheelhouse-Jackson from Super Sound Group

When it came to the exhibition, we had a visit of the gallery at Rood Henry’s Art Space in Heathcote, and planned the execution of the event, including catering, and budgeting for the event, as well as assistance with the audio visual set up and equipment with Thomas Wheelhouse-Jackson from Super Sound Group.

I also had the pleasure in being the MC on the night.

The designs I focused on were that of some of the local natives – a bottle featuring the native flora of the Red Ironbark (Eucalyptus tricarpa); and a bottle featuring the native fauna known as the Brush-tailed Phascogale (Phascogale tapoatafa tapoatafa). I landed on these to bring attention to the local natives that may not be well known, as well as the conservation status to inspire change and appreciation of our precious country.
