Power Shift 2022

In September 2022, I returned to Queensland with Super Sound Group to provide the audiovisual services for AYCC’s Power Shift event.

Power Shift allows young people to build the skills, knowledge, and inspiration they need to take on the biggest fights for Climate Justice.

Power Shift is a power summit created by Australia’s youth, for the youth of Australia. Over 300 young Australians came together to fight for climate justice, both in person and online.

Thomas and myself with Tiahni Adamson, Activist, and Lead Engagement Officer of CH4Global.
Myself with Amaya Hytch, Activist, and Aspiring Environmental Lawyer.
Thomas and myself with Tanita Razaghi, Activist, Project Officer, and Radio Presenter and Producer.

This Power Shift included panels of speakers, many workshops, and even a rally to send a strong message to Treasurer of Australia, Jim Chalmers MP, to step up on climate action.

Frack Off Campaign

In 2020, AYCC hosted a series of campaigns to push organisations, such as Origin Energy, and the Government, to stop “climate-wrecking” gas in Australia, and to make the commitment to a clean future with renewable energy.

As part of these campaigns, I attended informative and motivating webinars, took to social media, signed petitions, and contacted people in power to make the change.

Here’s one of my social media posts, which I captioned:

I stand with the traditional owners of the land and #saynotofracking in the NT.

Fracking uses a lot of water – in dry Aussie towns and communities, this can make a big difference! On top of that, the fracking fluid could also contaminate other water supplies, not to mention the radioactive particles it could contain, or the seismic activity it could create.

@seedmob: “With #fracking in the NT starting now, we need to use this opportunity to stand with frontline communities and influence [@originenergy]’s biggest decision-makers before it’s too late. … Will you stand with Traditional Owners and Aboriginal communities who don’t want fracking on their land in the NT … and support us by taking ACTION”!
